This dome home shows how modern Monolithic methods and conventional concrete structures can be brought together. It marries Monolithic dome technology with ICF's (Insulated Concrete Forms). Notice the structure on the right. The owner decided that he prefered to have straight up and down walls in his pantry because it is more conducive to shelving. The roof of the pantry is still rounded like a dome; the roof is also an inflated airform.
One idea that comes highly recommended is the addition of a portico. This is a wonderful idea to help keep people dry while they fumble for their keys. Although unnecessary for structural purposes according to the architect, Leitgeb advised the owners to pour concrete pillars at the end of the portico to become a beautifully decorative addition to the home.
Leitgeb Industries recommends that all doors and windows have some form of portico or awning. It reduces the chance of water issues.
